Jogging is among those forms of exercises that are natural and very
safe and it has been around for thousands of years and it appears set to
continue being there. Runners and joggers have always been there many
years before there was ever a gym or a fitness club and all other
equipment you could ever think about.
Even though people don’t run a lot these days for many reasons
jogging seems to have taken the number one slot in shaping people’s
bodies to be slimmer and fitter. There are a few tips that can help you
reap maximum jogging benefits.
Tip #1 – Choose where to jog
There can be times when it becomes frustrating to jog outside because
of adverse weather conditions and at such a time you may find it
convenient to use a running machine or a treadmill. You may want to
become a member in a local gym or perhaps have one in your won home.
There may also be other times when the ground you are jogging on outside
is not safe and could lead to injuries on the foot or ankle. Many
people have discovered it much safer to jog on the treadmill because you
won’t have to worry about dogs, potholes, cars and you can actually
control your speed.
Tip #2 – Begin with power walking
You will be able to achieve the benefits of jogging if you start your
scheduled exercise with a period of power walking. Perhaps you have not
exercised for a long period of time and your body and especially the
legs need to get acclimatized. Power walking should begin with the
smallest of steps and then progress slowly at your own pace. You should
be able to build up slowly until you finally graduate it into a jog.

Tip #3 – Remember to warm up
It is highly recommended to begin any form of exercise with a good
warp up and after you are through to warm down your muscles. Warm helps
in prevention of injuries as well as preparing your muscles for the jog
because the increase of blood flow brings warmth to the muscles making
them most effective. You should start of jogging slowly and build up to
your maximum speed after you finish you need to also wind down slowly
before finally coming to a stop. Your muscles are also going to feel
better when you finish off completely with some form of stretching
exercise. When you are done completely it is recommended that you sit
down and raise your feet above the level of your heart so that your
heart quickly returns to normal.
